Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements. We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.

​The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.​

Dr Geoffrey Bourke

Dr Bourke qualified from University College Dublin in 1981.
He opened the GP practice in Belturbet in 1987 and moved to Ballyconnell in 2000 and has been serving the West Cavan population since then. Dr Bourke has an extensive knowledge of all of the patients in the practice.
Dr Bourke has also previously worked in St Vincents University Hospital, Dublin and Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin. He also worked for one year in Bitar Hospital, Baghdad Iraq. Dr Bourke completed his GP training in Farnborough Hampshire UK.
Dr Bourke has completed diplomas in child health and obstetrics/ gynaecology.
He enjoys swimming, walking and travelling in his spare time with his wife, Máire.
Dr Ciaran Henry

Dr Henry qualified with an honours degree in biomedical science in 2003. He then went on to complete his medical degree, finishing in 2007.
He completed the MRCGP in 2017.
Dr Henry has a wealth of experience in minor surgery after spending five years working in numerous emergency departments including two years in Australia. Dr Henry has a special interest in minor surgery and joint injections and continues his professional development with the primary care surgical association. He is currently undertaking training in vasectomy procedures. Dr Henry also has a special interest in sports medicine and has been club doctor for Bellanaleck GAA for the last four years.
Dr Nicola Fortune

Dr Fortune qualified from University College Dublin in 2014.
Dr Fortune is a vocationally trained GP, having completed the North East ICGP scheme in 2020. Since then she has completed diplomas in women's health, dermatology, sports medicine and practice management. Dr Fortune also works in the Irish Family Planning clinic one day per week where she completed her LARC training. (Long acting reversible contraception including mirena, copper coils and implanon insertions).
Dr Fortune has a special interest in women’s health and family planning.
Dr Fiona Murphy

Mb BCH BAO, MRCGP, DRCOG, DOccMed

Dr Murphy qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2005.
Since then she has completed her GP training in Northern Ireland. Dr Murphy previously worked as a GP partner in N. Ireland before joining the practice in 2024. She continues to work in Occupational health in N. Ireland.
Dr Murphy also completed diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology as well as occupational medicine.
Dr Murphy has a special interest in lifestyle medicine and occupational medicine.
Siobhan McCluskey
Practice Nurse/Manager
Siobhan has over twenty years experience working in general practice. After completing a H. Dip in practice nursing in RCSI, Siobhan developed a keen interest in primary health care and community lifestyle medicine.
In Ballyconnell medical practice, Siobhan co-ordinates and leads the following programmes: Chronic disease management, Childhood and adult vaccination programmes, Travel vaccinations and the cervical screening programme.
Vanessa Mulholland
Practice Nurse
Vanessa graduated from John Moores University, Liverpool with a BSc Honours degree in Adult nursing in 2009. With over fifteen years clinical experience in both the acute and community setting, Vanessa is highly trained and qualified to help patients with many medical needs.
Having joined the team in 2023, she provides a broad range of services to the practice with a keen interest in minor injuries, childhood vaccinations, chronic disease management and phlebotomy.
Administration Staff

Our Administration team of Elaine Walsh, Anne Marie Maguire, Lynn Shannon and Caitriona Cox have between them years of experience across a broad range of disciplines. They are diligent, conscientious, and professional. The team has been trained to manage your enquiries and deal with them with sensitivity and total confidence.
